Individual Therapy
I work with adults who experienced trauma or are exposed to trauma in their work. I also provide therapy and supervision to professionals at risk of burnout.
My waitlist is closed at this time. I recommend this resource for finding qualified clinical psychologists with potential availability.
My offices are in Te Aro, Wellington and Eastbourne, Lower Hutt (office directions here). If you are within driving distance, I expect the bulk of our work will be in-person. I’m happy to do Zoom meetings occasionally.
My rate is $225 NZD + GST per a 50 minute session.
Note, I do not work with people who have experienced a recent suicide attempt.
I also do not work with people who are in the midst of a criminal proceedings or a court case.
For NZ referrals, I recommend the ACT Wellington Group.
The New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists also has a useful directory of clinical psychologists with specialization and availability information.
For US referrals, I highly recommend the therapists at ImpACT Psychology Colorado and the coaching services of Mara B. Vernon at Ripp Leadership.
Trauma survivors
I am expert at treating complex trauma, childhood trauma, moral injury, shame-based traumatic symptoms, as well as trauma related to interpersonal violence, war and combat, sexual violence, and torture.
I use evidence-based trauma interventions supplemented with compassion and mindfulness practices.
I have presented and written extensively on trauma, PTSD, and post-traumatic growth and resilience. More information in my CV.
therapists and other helpers
I help therapists, medical professionals, and other helpers create intentional, mission-driven lives that are balanced and resilient to deep suffering.
I have written and spoken extensively on burnout, including this podcast interview on Medical Professional Wellbeing. A full list of my publications and invited talks are listed in my CV.
What is the process?
You complete the interest form and schedule a free 20 minute video consultation.
We discuss what you are looking for and whether I’m a good fit to help.
If we find we are a good fit, you complete a fuller assessment. After reviewing evidence-based methods to achieve your goals, we make a plan. Most plans begin with weekly therapy for at least 3 months, but our plan and roadmap are customized to you, your life, and your goals.
